The pervading Saturday rumor -- err,
report -- had NFL commish Roger Goodell reinstating Brett Favre on Monday, giving the Packers and the Gunslinger the weekend to iron out an agreement.
That
rumor report turned out wrong though, as according to ESPN's Ed Werder (so it might be true),
Goodell has reinstated Favre. The QB is on his way to Green Bay for tonight's scrimmage. He will be greeted with three dozen red roses and a cheeseburger tainted with E.coli, according to anonymous sources.
All eyes are now on the Pack, except for the eyes who were exhausted by this story weeks ago, which likely includes most of the eyes in the civilized world. (The recluses of Borneo can't get enough Chris Mortensen.)
Speaking of Mort: Saturday night's Hall of Fame ceremony was not 10 minutes old before the first cut-in report on Favre's status.
Some predictions should just be called pre-emptive facts. On that note, I imagine tonight's preseason opener between the Redskins and the Colts will focus completely on those teams, and no diva quarterbacks but Colt Brennan will be discussed.
