The 2011 American Idol Tour
Featured on the "American Idols Live!" lineup this year are season 10's top 11 finalists: Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Naima Adedapo, Paul McDonald, Pia Toscano, Scotty McCreery, Stefano Langone, and Thia Megia. While the lineup typically features the top 10 of each season, Abrams was added after the judges used their lone save option of the season on him.
About American Idol Live
American Idols Live grew out of the hit TV show that changed the face of American television. American Idol, launched by producer Simon Fuller in 2001, challenges contestants to sing to the best of their ability or face getting voted out of the competition by the ultimate judge: the viewing audience. Since its premiere, American Idol has created stars out of many of its finalists, including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks and David Cook. The show consistently ranks #1 in the ratings and is a staple of many Americans' TV viewing habits.
Idol invites the viewer to tune in weekly to vote for their favorite contestant in order to carry them through to the following week. It has created household names of current and former judges Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi, known for their poignant and sometimes harsh critiques, as well as host Ryan Seacrest. The American Idol tour is a yearly post-Idol outing for the Top 10 finalists from each season. Each summer the group comes together for a cross-country extravaganza in front of thousands. However, instead of waiting for that nail-biting, commercial-spanning announcement of their fate, the finalists are able to spend time doing what they do best: perform for their fans.
